WINTER CAMP: DAY 1. GETTING TO KNOW OUR SQUAD MEMBERS. STARTING THE YEAR BY VISITING THE CHURCH.
First day of winter camp! The first thing we did was find the head of our squad. Mine was Miss. Dzovig: our English teacher. We sat down talked, got to know our squad members and looked into Miss. Dzovig’s planned schedule for our week. After that we decided to take a walk to the Holy Trinity church. We sat there for a while, prayed, lit a candle and headed back to school. On our way to school we took pictures and made videos of our wishes for this year.
It was a great start for the month and the year!
WINTER CAMP: DAY 2. MOVIE TIME: «THE MASK OF ZORRO»
Today we had a movie time on our schedule so we picked a movie: The mask of Zorro. We teamed up with Miss. Shushan’s squad, made popcorn and started watching the movie. It was my first time seeing that movie and I really liked it.
It was about a Spanish nobleman Don Diego de la Vega, who was fighting against Mexican soldiers as Zorro: a mysterious, masked swordsman. After his wife was killed and his newborn daughter taken from him by the leader of Mexican army Don Rafael Montero, Don Diego retired from being Zorro. After 20 years he saw his grown up daughter Elena and decided to fight for justice. So he started training a thief Alejandro Murietta as the new Zorro.
Together they fight against Don Rafael, free his slaves and save California from massive destruction. Don Diego died fighting for justice but his daughter got to know who her real father was. She fell in love with Alejandro and got married to him.
WINTER CAMP: DAY 3. WANDERING THROUGH THE STREETS OF EREVAN. ICE SKATING.
Today we had ice skating on our schedule so teamed up with Miss. Shushan’s squad and went to Downtown Yerevan. The trip from school to Downtown was long because we didn’t really know which bus to take, but it was also very fun to wander through the streets with so many teens, talk, tell jokes and laugh.
We finally made it! The ice skating rink was full of students, who couldn’t skate. For the record I was one of them. We fell, we laughed, we got up and tried again and finally we learned.
It was a really fun trip. We got to learn how to skate, we got to know each other and create a stronger bond between our teachers.
liked it.
WINTER CAMP: DAY 4. DISCUSSION. GETTING TO KNOW WESTERN KITCHEN.
Today was the last day of the first week of camp, which meant that it was also the last day in Miss. Dzovig’s squad.
On our first hour we discussed Tumanyan’s tale “The liar” and tried to follow it by telling the most bizarre lie.
That was fun, but the second hour was even more fun as we got to know western kitchen and prepare something of our own. So we went shopping and got all the ingredients we needed to make cinnamon – tahini and zater crepes.
The making process was really fun. I was the camerawoman, so I made lots of videos and took lots of pics. After cooking and stuff we got to sit, have a cup of tea and taste our crepes. They were delicious!
